Microneedling

Precision collagen induction therapy for skin renewal and scar remodeling

Microneedling creates thousands of micro-channels in the skin to stimulate the body's natural wound-healing response, triggering new collagen and elastin production. At Dr. Honrado's practice, microneedling is performed with a clinical-grade motorized device calibrated to precise, adjustable depths — delivering a controlled, anatomically specific treatment for skin renewal and textural improvement.

Treatment Overview

Session Time

Treatment takes approximately 45–60 minutes including topical numbing preparation. No anesthesia is required.

Downtime

24–48 hours of redness and mild swelling. Skin may feel tight and appear flushed (similar to a mild sunburn). Most patients return to normal activities within 48 hours.

Results Timeline

Initial improvement in skin texture within 2–4 weeks. Collagen remodeling continues for 3–6 months. A series of 3–6 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart is typically recommended.

What It Does

Microneedling addresses acne scars and pitting, fine lines and surface texture irregularities, enlarged pores, mild skin laxity, and uneven tone. The treatment is particularly effective for atrophic acne scars, where repeated sessions can produce meaningful textural improvement through progressive collagen remodeling. It is one of the most well-studied non-ablative approaches for scar remodeling across all skin types.

How It Works

A motorized microneedling device creates controlled, adjustable-depth micro-injuries across the treatment area. These micro-channels trigger the skin's healing cascade — releasing growth factors that stimulate fibroblast activity and new collagen synthesis. The epidermis heals rapidly while remodeling continues in the dermis over weeks to months. Unlike ablative laser, microneedling preserves the skin surface, making it suitable for a broader range of skin tones.
