Earlobe Repair – Lobuloplasty

Stretched earlobes are a common complaint of both men and women. There are several reasons for torn or stretched earlobes. These include trauma, repeated wearing of heavy earrings or wearing ear stretchers. There are different degrees of earlobe trauma. From having the piercing stretched and out of shape to being unsightly or having completely torn earlobes. The process of repairing the earlobe is simple, affordable, and effective.

Description of the Procedure

The earlobe repair procedure is done in our offices ambulatory care facilities under local anesthetic. The procedure is essentially quick and painless, you can be out of the office in as little as 1 hour. The surgery consists in reconstructing the ear lobes and closing the holes as much as possible. The stretched or torn skin edges are stitched together after being excised. Stitches need to remain in place for about a week long. Most patients don’t need pain medication after the procedure, only local antibiotic ointment needs to be applied. You can have your ears pierced back again in as soon as 6 weeks. The final result is a thin, linear scar which  generally fades away with time.
