What is Kybella®?
Is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin”.
It’s an injectable treatment for adults with a double chin that when injected under the chin, it permanently destroys fat cells for an improved profile.
The active ingredient in Kybella® is synthetic deoxycholic acid, it’s natural non-human and a non-animal molecule that occurs naturally in the body and aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
How it Works
The deoxycholic acid in Kybella® is injected into the fat beneath the chin, destroying the fat cells resulting in a very noticeable reduction of fat under the chin.
When injected under your chin, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat eliminating the need for further treatments once the desired goal has been reached.
What to Expect
Before starting the treatment, we will examine the area under and around your chin to determine if Kybella® is right for you.
Your treatment will be tailored to your specific needs, based on the amount of fat under the chin and your personal aesthetic goals.
How is Kybella® Administered?
You will receive multiple small injections under your chin at each treatment session. This process takes from 15 to 20 minutes. The number of injections to be administered depend on the amount of fat under the chin and the desired profile.
The number of treatment sessions varies from person to person as well. Based on the amount and distribution of fat under the chin and your personal desired goals, we will determine how many treatment sessions you will need.
Each treatment is given at least 1 month apart and the maximum number of treatments to receive are 6. In clinical studies, 59% of patients received 6 treatments.
