How will my facelift look over time?

May 7, 2014 By Carlo Honrado

You’ve had your facelift.  Now what?

Over time your facelift will settle and find it’s natural shape.  Once the healing is behind you, it’s time to fully enjoy all the hard work that was invested into your procedure.  People often wonder, how long will the results last? A lot of time, effort and money were put into your facelift and it’s not unusual to expect it to last a lifetime.  This is the truth about facelifts, they do not last forever.

Facelifts don’t last forever.

Your face is still made of the same human material as it was before your procedure and subject to aging just as it was before your facelift.  While the start date, so to speak, may have been reset, it will still shift and change in time. In other words, nature will still take its course.

How long does a facelift will last?

Patients want to know how long their facelift will last.  It is impossible for any physician, even a board certified facial plastics specialist, to honestly answer this question.  Aging is a complex process reliant on many factors and they address all of us uniquely. The same factors that figure into the natural aging process such as sun exposure, genetics, smoking, health, lifestyle, nutrition and stress levels are added to the post-op aging equation. Everyone has unique tissues, skin and musculature.  A facelift can tighten these  underlying structures, removing and repositioning sagging and loose skin, it is still subject to the dynamics of aging.  The good news is, that if the facelift was successful in taking “ten years off” then you can set the aging clock back ten years and start from there.

Are you considering a facelift?  Call our office and set up and appointment with Dr. Honrado today to discuss your needs.  310.286.0043
