Eyelid Surgery in Beverly Hills: Understanding Blepharoplasty

January 2, 2014 By Carlo Honrado

There are plenty of good reasons to have eyelid surgery in Beverly Hills. The main two are for medical and cosmetic surgery. Drooping eyelids can obstruct your peripheral vision, which can have a big impact on your everyday life. This simple procedure can really transform your life, changing things for the better.

Of course, some people consider the surgery for cosmetic purposes only. While the drooping eyelids have no effect on their vision, it can still have a negative effect on their confidence. Making a change with this easy and effective procedure can really help to boost your confidence.

What is blepharoplasty?

What this eyelid surgery does is help to reduce the drooping of your skin on the eyelids. For those seeking the surgery for medical purposes, getting rid of any excess skin will improve your vision. For those seeking the treatment for cosmetic purposes, removing excess skin, muscle and fat will really help to reduce signs of aging. Many people fear the effect time has on their skin, but now,  people no longer need to worry about looking old before their time.

What does the procedure involve?

The procedure lasts about 1 to 2 hours. Tiny incisions are made at the natural crease of your upper lids to remove any excess fat, muscle and skin. The same is done for your lower lids, where the incision is made just a few millimeters from your lower lashes.

The size and placement of the incisions helps to ensure that the remaining scars are almost invisible to the eye. This will make it appear much more natural, without people questioning how you managed to maintain such a youthful appearance. You would be surprised at just how many people have had eyelid surgery in Beverly Hills.

What happens after the surgery?

After care is an important part of any surgery. You don’t want to ruin all the hard work and care which has gone into improving the look of your eyelids. The healing process is actually pretty fast and straightforward. Cold compresses are used to help reduce any swelling, and ointments are used to prevent dryness. You will also need to ensure that you regularly clean the area using eye drops for about ten days following the surgery. The stitches are taken out about 3 to 5 days afterwards, or they will dissolve on their own. Be aware that if you normally wear contact lenses, you will need to refrain from using them for a couple of weeks while your eyelids fully heal. Afterwards you can use them again as normal.

Deciding to have eyelid surgery in Beverly Hills can seem like a daunting prospect. Rest assured that you would be able to find a fully certified facial plastic surgeon in the area that will be able to perform the procedure to great effect. Look for a surgeon that has the relevant experience and comes with great testimonials. By opting for the best and most experienced surgeons you will be able to get the results you are looking for and achieve a younger looking you.
