What can a liquid facelift do for me?

What can a liquid facelift do for me?

June 2, 2014 By Carlo Honrado

A liquid facelift is a non-invasive approach to lifting and filling the skin with a combination of dermal fillers and freezers.  It is performed in the office, often in under an hour, with no more than a light topical numbing cream.  With a few injections creases are softened, wrinkles are erased and age-induced hollowing is lifted and volumized.  A liquid facelift can achieve a more youthful and refreshed appearance for patients not ready to undergo facial surgery.

What does a liquid facelift address?

Mild jowls

Volume loss

Vertical lip lines

Crow’s feet

Lines along the side of the nose and chin  “marionette lines”

Asymmetries

Neckbands

How long does will a liquid facelift last?

Injectable fillers and freezers are only temporary.  Most of these, like Botox and Juvederm, start to lose their potency in anywhere from 3 to 6 months.    Juvederm and Restlyane are made of hyaluronic acid, which is already naturally occurring in our bodies and simply dissolves naturally over time.  Sculptra is the one of the longer-acting volumizers and can last up to two years.  Sculptra is a fantastic volumizer as it triggers the body to create its own collagen.  Artefill can last up to five years.  The goal of a liquid facelift is to achieve natural facial rejuvenation, and the products will fade slowly enough so that you will not drastically return to your pre-procedure look, however it is important to stay on top up touch-ups as this will prove more economic down the line.  A permanent approach is harvesting one’s own fat for transfers.

How long does it take?

The liquid facelift can be as fast as 30 minutes or less.  We like to take our time and discuss everything with you along the way,  taking a beat to show you how it is looking.  This can make the process take up to an hour.  But clearly, it is not a lengthy or painful procedure.

How much does it cost?

The cost comes down to how much volume or wrinkle reduction in needed and therefor for how many syringes or cc’s.  Patients are charged by syringe and cc’s and not for an overall-procedure.  Each face is unique and there is no way to create a single fair selling price.  Please beware of doctor’s offering this.  This can mean watered down product and a lack of professionalism.  One face may need one syringe and another could require three or more.   The same goes for Botox, it is billed per cc, and so it all depends on the need of the particular patient.  There is no such thing is one face fits all.

Are there side effects?

There may be some mid redness or swelling at the injection site and some fillers can cause more bruising than others, like Voluma, but it is all mild and easily covered with make up.  In the case where product may for a tiny lumps under the skin, your doctor will inject an agent to dissolve it.

Dr. Honrado is a board certified facial plastic surgeon and a specialist when it comes to facial rejuvenation of any kind.  If you are considering a liquid facelift, please call our office and set sit up a consultation with Dr. Honrado to discuss your needs. 310. 286.0043
